Important Events in Eagles History

1933 - October 15 the Eagles made their official debut and got crushed by the NY Giants 56-0
1934 - Eagles begin their second season with 6 straight losses but finish with a 4-7 overall record
1936 - Bert Bell takes over as owner and head coach, but still a losing season
1942 - After changing coaches and wonders, Eagles still remain one of the worst teams in the NFL
1944 - Running Back Steve Van Buren proves to be the much needed spark, resulting in a 7-1-2 record
1950 - Eagles end season in a sudden tail spin falling out of competition with a four game losing streak that results in a 6-6 record. Following the season then Coach Greasy Neale would retire. He would be replaced by Bo McMillan. 1955 - Pete Pihos leads all NFL pass receivers with 62 catches for 864 yards but still results in a losing season. Following the season Coach Jim Trimble would be replaced by Hugh Devore.
1961 - Nick Skorich is named the new head coach as Sonny Jurgensen takes over as the starting quarterback and finishes with a 10-4 record.
1968 - Jerry Williams named head coach after a losing season.
1971 - First season at Veterans Stadium
1975 - Dick Vermeil named new head coach
1977- Acquire Ron Jaworski as Quarterback but still end with a losing season.
1980 - With Jaworski as QB, Eagles would go on to win the Division and earn trip to NFC Championship game. After winning against the Cowboys, the Eagles played in their first Superbowl but lost to Oakland 27-10.
1982 - Vermeil replaced by Marion Campbell.
1986 - Randall Cunningham emerges as lead QB who holds that title until the early 90's.
1994 - Prior to the start of the season, the Eagles are sold to Hollywood Producer Jeffrey Lurie who still owns the team today.
1998 - Coach Andy Reid replaces Ray Rhodes.
1999 - Eagles draft Donovan McNabb as QB
2004 - Eagles land Terrell Owens and make their second Superbowl appearance against New England Patriots but lose a tough game 24-21.
2005 - Owens signs with Cowboys - fans say good riddance!
2009 - Eagles sign Michael Vick after serving prison sentence.
2010 - Kevin Kolb replaces McNabb as QB but injury leads to Vick getting the lead job. Although Eagles make the playoffs, they lose to Green Bay 21-16.
